found a good topic for my dissertation?" Deciding on a topic for
your dissertation is the first step in making sure your research goes as
smoothly as possible. When choosing a topic, it’s important to consider:
Check the practical requirements of your course and
always keep in mind the word count, the deadline, any specific requirement on
research methods to your subject. When in doubt, always check with your Personal
Tutor.
One of the most important factors in choosing a dissertation topic is to work on something that really interests
you. Your dissertation or
research project will take many weeks and months to complete. Therefore, it’s
extremely important to choose a topic that you find interesting.
What data and sources are available regarding your
chosen topic: Try to choose a topic that has existing research for you to read
and evaluate.
You need to make sure your dissertation is relevant
academically, socially or practically.
You should choose a topic that is clearly connected to current issues or
debates in the society or in your course.
